Butter and Honey & Focus on the Good

Hey Everyone,
Not a lot happened this last week. Although, we found two new families with some potential. The prayers have definitely been answered. Our work is picking up.
In scripture study this week, I came across this scripture and thought it was insightful. “Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil and to choose the good.” 2 Nephi 17:15 It reminds me of of similar scripture in Moroni: “And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is. And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God; for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.” Moroni 10:6-7 When we focus on the good things from God, we will have a stronger spirit. This will allow us to do that which is good.
I also had a cool experience with an answered prayer this I would like to share. I was praying to know what I need to do to help some of our investigators progress. My prayers seemed to not be answered at all  for a few days. On Saturday,  We were talking about it over lunch. When two men came up to talk to us. As it turns out, they were both former stake presidents on a business trip. Also, they were both converts. We spoke with them for a while about some of the things we are struggling with our investigators As nonmembers and working with nonmember;  they’ve been through similar situations. Their general advice is get to know people, love them, meet their immediate needs, and involve them. The rest is up to the Lord’s timing and their agency.
I know that Heavenly Father does answer prayers. Thank you for all the help.

Pray for the Flores family & hidden kitty

Hey Everyone,

What a week! We have been visiting the Flores family more. He wants to get baptized in June. Please pray for them. They are going through a lot of opposition right now. Please keep them in your prayers.
I have been doing a lot better. I love this area and hope that I get to stay here. Elder Reeve and I are working hard. I am pleased with our progress.
We rescued a cat this last week from a tree. Then we drove to the reservation to ask a family in the branch could take of him. It is the same family with the squirrel.
Thanks for all the support and love!

Coyote on the farm

No group email for the week, however, we enjoyed our Skype call for Mother’s Day. The whole family (Jes & Tim in Utah & Erica & Sam in LA) was able to participate.

Drew is making the most of his mission. When asked what he enjoyed most about his mission, he quickly replied, “I love the people, I really love the people I’m serving”.  Then he said, “I really don’t like the cold weather, it snowed again yesterday (5/13/17). We were supposed to go fishing”. Winter 2016-2017 broke records for snow totals and freezing temperatures in Pocatello, Idaho.

Drew was pleased to report his investigators are slowly progressing. Although none came to church, he is encouraged by their progress. One investigator went to the ER. When she returned home, she asked Drew and Elder Reeve to give her a priesthood blessing.

Thank you for the support you show Elder Allen. He is humbled by your kindness. Until next week!

ps – Drew sent four pictures this week, 3 of a coyote on a farm & one of him. This is getting ridiculous!

Six More Weeks in Blackfoot, Idaho

Hey everyone,

I am really excited to be here in Blackfoot for another 6 weeks with Elder Reeve. I love the people who we are working with. I know the Lord has a plan for us and the people here. We have been working with a lot of great people here. When you look for it, you can easily see the Lord’s hand in all things.
Consistency is one of the hardest things to do.  My goal is to give my constant best. Whether that is with charity, or virtue, or whatever attribute it may be, I have seen it is easier when we can look at all choices with an eternal perspective.
Any additional advise or counsel that anyone has would be appreciated!

Osmar & A Service Project

Hey Everyone,

We were teaching Osmar, the man who recently moved from Peru. He has really slowed down as far as progressions with the gospel. He lost his original desire for reading the Book of Mormon. He stopped coming to church, and started to cancel appointments, etc. Saturday was the first time in a week we were able to meet with to teach him. He still wasn’t progressing and didn’t accept the commitment to go to church. We told him “Lets pray about it, and lets see how you feel afterwards.” So we prayed, and he said, “I think that I need to go to church.” That was so awesome.  He came for sacrament. The branch welcomed him openly. It was a really cool experience.
We went on a service project and then golfing. I’m sorry, no time to email everyone today. Thank you for all your love and support.
Love you all,
